About

Valle d'Aosta's cellar red, named for the smoky grey bloom on its skins. Dark, peppery, and firmly structured, it was long a blending grape until growers proved it could age into one of the Alps' most serious reds. Usually raised in oak and at its best with five or more years behind it.
