Aromatic grape used in small proportions in Bordeaux white and sweet wine blends. Adds floral perfume and musky character. Susceptible to noble rot, making it valuable in Sauternes. Not related to Muscat despite the similar name.

In sweet wines: 20-50+ years. In dry blends: adds early-drinking appeal.
