Petit Chablis
Burgundy
A lighter, more immediate expression of the Chablis style, from vineyards on the outer edges of the appellation. Petit Chablis is crisp, refreshing, and perfect for casual enjoyment, a lovely introduction to the region's mineral Chardonnay.
The wines of Petit Chablis are made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. Steely, mineral, unoaked.

Terroir & Classification
Soils
Petit Chablis sits on Portlandian limestone bedrock, the youngest Jurassic formation in the area, which is harder and less porous than the Kimmeridgian clay found in premier and grand cru sites. This dense limestone provides good drainage but limits root penetration, resulting in vines that must work harder for water and nutrients. The water table sits deeper here due to the impermeable nature of the Portlandian stone.
Classification
Village appellation. No classified premier cru vineyards, but the village-level wines consistently offer genuine Burgundy character at approachable prices.
Elevation
150-250m, predominantly south and southwest-facing slopes on the periphery of the Chablis basin
Microclimate
The outlying positions and slightly higher elevations create cooler conditions with greater temperature variations than central Chablis sites. These peripheral locations receive less protection from cold winds and experience more pronounced diurnal temperature swings.
Typical Aromas
Grapes of Burgundy
