Climate
The higher elevation creates a notably cooler climate than the lower Côte de Nuits, with greater diurnal temperature variation that preserves natural acidity and extends the growing season. The hillside positions provide good air circulation and protection from excessive heat, resulting in wines with pronounced freshness and elegance.
Terroir
The vineyards sit on Jurassic limestone bedrock with overlying marl deposits, creating a well-draining foundation that forces vine roots to penetrate deeply in search of water and nutrients. The limestone-rich subsoil provides excellent natural drainage while the marl layers retain just enough moisture to sustain the vines during dry periods, creating ideal conditions for quality grape production.
