Terroir & Classification
Soils
Montagny sits on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Middle and Upper Jurassic periods, rich in marine fossils including gryphaea and belemnites. The limestone provides excellent drainage while allowing vine roots to penetrate deep into fissured rock, creating ideal conditions for mineral expression in the wines.
