Terroir & Classification
Soils
The vineyards sit on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Kimmeridgian and Oxfordian periods, rich in marine fossils including oyster shells and ammonites. This limestone base is overlaid with varying depths of clay and marl, creating excellent drainage while allowing vine roots to penetrate deep into fissured bedrock for mineral uptake. The porous limestone acts as a natural reservoir, storing water during wet periods and releasing it gradually during drought.

One of the largest collections in Burgundy, reflecting exceptional terroir diversity.
Elevation
200-400m, predominantly south and southeast-facing slopes
Microclimate
The amphitheater-like valley formation creates a natural sun trap that generates warmer temperatures than the broader Mâconnais, while the elevation provides cooling winds that preserve acidity. The limestone slopes reflect sunlight back onto the vines, extending the growing season and enhancing ripening potential.
Typical Aromas
