Blagny
Burgundy
A rare red-only appellation straddling the border between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Blagny produces structured, slightly rustic Pinot Noir from high-altitude vineyards. It is a curiosity worth seeking out for anyone exploring the lesser-known corners of Burgundy.
The wines of Blagny are made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. Steely, mineral, unoaked.

Terroir & Classification
Soils
Blagny sits on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian stage, with significant marl deposits containing fossil-rich layers that provide excellent mineral complexity. The high-altitude position creates excellent drainage through the porous limestone, forcing vine roots deep into the bedrock while the marl layers retain just enough moisture for sustained vine nutrition.
Classification
Village appellation. No classified premier cru vineyards, but the village-level wines consistently offer genuine Burgundy character at approachable prices.
Elevation
280-380m, predominantly east and southeast-facing slopes
Microclimate
The elevated position creates a cooler, windier microclimate than the valley floor appellations of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, resulting in later ripening and more structured wines. Morning fog often lingers due to the higher altitude, extending the growing season and preserving acidity.
Typical Aromas
Grapes of Burgundy
