Climate
The east-facing exposition provides gentle morning sun and protection from harsh afternoon heat, while the limestone soils create excellent drainage that prevents waterlogging yet retains sufficient moisture during dry periods. Cool air drainage from the Côte d'Or escarpment moderates temperatures, extending the growing season.
Terroir
The vineyards sit on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian and Bajocian periods, rich in marine fossils including oyster shells and crinoids. The upper slopes feature thin topsoil over hard limestone, while mid-slope parcels have deeper marl deposits that retain moisture and provide excellent drainage through natural fissures in the limestone substrata.
