Terroir & Classification
Soils
The vineyards sit on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian and Bajocian periods, rich in marine fossils including oysters and ammonites. The topsoil consists of thin layers of white marl and limestone scree that provide excellent drainage while allowing roots to penetrate deep into the fractured limestone bedrock. This geological structure creates ideal water regulation, storing moisture in the limestone's porous structure while preventing waterlogging.
