Fixin sits on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian and Bajocian formations, rich with marine fossils including belemnites and brachiopods. The slopes feature a mix of hard limestone at higher elevations transitioning to softer marls and clay-limestone colluvium lower down, providing excellent drainage on the slopes while allowing deeper root penetration in the marl-rich soils.
