Terroir & Classification
Soils
The vineyards sit on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian and Bajocian stages, rich in marine fossils including belemnites and oyster shells. Overlying marls and limestone scree provide excellent drainage while allowing vine roots to penetrate deep into fissured bedrock. The combination of permeable limestone and clay-rich marls creates ideal water retention during dry periods while preventing waterlogging.
