Climate
Protected position behind Puligny-Montrachet creates a slightly warmer, more sheltered environment than exposed sites, while higher elevation provides cooling influences and extends the growing season. The valley orientation channels cool air drainage, moderating temperatures during ripening.
Terroir
Saint-Aubin sits on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian and Bajocian stages, with marlstone outcrops containing fossilized marine organisms. The calcareous soils provide excellent drainage while the marl layers retain some moisture, allowing vine roots to penetrate deeply into the fractured limestone subsoil.
