Corullón
Bierzo
South-western Bierzo, on steep slate slopes climbing toward the El Bierzo mountains. One of the highest-elevation Bierzo municipios; the parajes here are the source for some of the most-cited modern Mencía bottlings.
The wines of Corullón are made primarily from Godello, Mencía.

Climate
High-altitude western valleys catch the last of the Atlantic moisture before it bleeds into Galicia. Long days are tempered by cool nights off the Sierra de Ancares; budbreak is late and harvest can stretch into October. Mountain wind keeps the canopy dry and lowers disease pressure.
Terroir
Steep slopes of blue-black slate (pizarra) and weathered schist, broken by quartzite veins. The slate retains heat through the night and forces vines to root deep, stressing yields and concentrating fruit. The oldest, ungrafted Mencía bush vines on these hillsides are the source of Bierzo's most age-worthy reds.
