Terroir & Classification
Soils
The vineyards sit on Jurassic limestone bedrock from the Bathonian period, overlaid with varying depths of Oligocene marl and clay deposits. The limestone provides excellent drainage while the marl and clay layers retain moisture, allowing vine roots to penetrate deep into fissured bedrock. Fossil-rich limestone creates a well-drained subsoil that forces roots down 3-4 meters, contributing to the wines' mineral complexity.
