Climate
Cool maritime climate defined by Pacific fog and wind. The Petaluma Gap funnels ocean air deep into the interior, creating conditions more like Burgundy than typical California. Inland pockets are warmer and suit a wider range of varieties.
Terroir
Diverse geology shaped by tectonic activity and ancient volcanic eruptions. Goldridge sandy loam dominates Russian River Valley, while volcanic soils appear in Bennett Valley and Sonoma Mountain. Coastal ridges feature thin, rocky soils over sandstone.
