Los Carneros
Napa Valley
Straddling Napa and Sonoma counties at the northern edge of San Pablo Bay, Carneros is defined by wind and fog. The cool climate makes it ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, producing wines of elegance and bright acidity. Many of Napa's best sparkling wines come from here.
The wines of Los Carneros are made primarily from Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and other Napa Valley varieties.

Climate
Carneros is significantly cooler than interior Napa Valley due to its proximity to San Pablo Bay, with persistent morning fog and afternoon winds that moderate temperatures and extend the growing season. The maritime influence creates one of California's coolest wine regions, with temperatures often 10-15°F cooler than areas just miles inland.
Terroir
Los Carneros sits atop marine sedimentary bedrock from the ancient Sonoma Volcanics formation, with shallow clay loam soils derived from marine deposits when the area was submerged under San Pablo Bay. The shallow, poorly-draining clay soils force vine roots to spread horizontally rather than penetrate deeply, creating water stress that concentrates flavors while the underlying sedimentary rock provides mineral complexity.
