About Kremstal
Kremstal is a DAC wine region in Lower Austria, named after the town of Krems where the river Krems meets the Danube. The region produces outstanding Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from a mix of loess, primary rock, and gravel soils. The diverse terroir creates wines ranging from fresh and fruit-driven to powerful and mineral, depending on whether vineyards sit on the sandy loess terraces or the steep gneiss and mica schist slopes.

Terroir & Character
Climate
Continental climate moderated by the Danube River, creating warm days and cool nights. The river acts as a thermal regulator, extending the growing season and allowing for slow, even ripening that preserves acidity while developing complex flavors.
Terroir
Diverse soils ranging from primary rock (granite and gneiss) on higher elevations to loess and gravel terraces near the Danube. The steep, south-facing slopes maximize sun exposure, while varying soil compositions create distinct expressions within short distances, from mineral-driven wines on rocky soils to more generous styles on loess.
