About Mittelburgenland
"Blaufränkischland" — a small Burgenland region west of Lake Neusiedl producing Austria's most concentrated Blaufränkisch from heavy clay-loam soils. Around the towns of Horitschon and Deutschkreutz, deep iron-rich clay and warm Pannonian summers ripen the variety into structured, dark-fruited reds. Top growers (Moric, Iby, Wellanschitz) helped redefine premium Blaufränkisch in the 2000s.
