Kocher-Jagst-Tauber
Württemberg
The northern Bereich of Württemberg, following three rivers (Kocher, Jagst, Tauber) through Hohenlohe and the Baden border country. Cooler than the Unterland, with a Riesling-and-Müller-Thurgau focus on Muschelkalk slopes. Smaller-scale, more rural in feel, with strong cooperative traditions.
The wines of Kocher-Jagst-Tauber are made primarily from Pinot Noir, Riesling, Blaufränkisch and other Württemberg varieties.

Climate
More continental than the southern Bereiche, with cooler nights that preserve acidity in white wines. The narrow river valleys provide sheltered sites with good south-facing exposure. Late frosts can be a risk in spring.
Terroir
Shell limestone (Muschelkalk) dominates, giving the white wines a distinctive chalky minerality. Keuper marl on the steeper valley slopes provides good drainage for the red varieties.
