The only major capital city in the world that produces commercial wine inside its boundaries. Vineyards line the slopes of the Vienna Woods on the city's northern edge — Nußberg, Bisamberg, Mauerberg, Maurer Berg — making mostly white wines, with the Gemischter Satz DAC (a field-blend of multiple grape varieties co-planted, co-harvested, and co-fermented) as the defining style. The Heuriger tradition, where producers pour their own wine in their own taverns, keeps the city's wine culture intensely local.

Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC is the flagship — a co-planted, co-fermented field blend of three or more white grape varieties. Also single-variety Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, and Weißburgunder.
Red
Small amounts of Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, and Sankt Laurent, often blended.
